We offer exciting and informative eco-tours around Dyer Island all year, and between July and December we combine the Island experience with boat- based whale watching. Our whale watching trips are considered not just magical but rewarding too, and are sure to capture everyone's imagination.
Boat-based whale watching
Southern right whales guaranteed July to December
See whales, seals, penguins as well as various seabird species
Possibility of seeing Great White sharks and some dolphins species
Whale watching trips are about 2½ hours long. They run from July - December. All trips are weather dependent.
Kleinbaai is a residential suburb of Gansbaai, with its own slipway. We are situated approximately 180km South East of Cape Town (driving time about 2 hrs).
Trips can vary from above. Should the whales arrive early or stay late in the year, we will alter our whale watching trips in accordance with the animals.
Every trip is preceded by a brief introductory talk about the route and what to look out for.
Always bring warm clothing as it is cooler at sea than on land. Waterproof/windproof clothing is available on the boat. We will provide inflatable life jackets. Please remember to use sunscreen. Please use anti-seasick medication well in advance if you are prone to motion sickness. Binoculars will be supplied if required.

HARBOUR HOUSE HOTEL - Hermanus
Situated in the heart of the historical village, Harbour House Hotel has been modeled after its original architecture, a thatched roof seaside manor house built in 1920. Being perfectly located above the Old Harbour, the hotel’s understated luxury is offset by the soothing surrounds of the ocean. The magnificent Lookout Terrace invites guests to relax around the infinity pool overlooking the ocean and savour a sundowner from the pool bar in the Pavillion.
